What I Lost Being in These Mostly White Spaces

In this clip, a Black woman shares her experiences growing up in and going to majority white schools and being in majority white spaces. She describes how growing up, her family internalized a lot of racism and began associating white spaces and education as success. She reflects on how much she lost being in mostly white spaces and being raised to associate whiteness or proximity to whiteness with success.

I think I’m just really grieving what I left behind… now I can see how much I lost by being in these mostly white spaces.
