The Villages and the Elders That Raise Us

In this clip, two Black women discuss their experiences growing up in tight-knit communities and having elders in their lives to guide them. The phrase ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ is embodied in this conversation as both women describe their childhoods. One woman mentions how much she appreciates and respects her village because of all the knowledge it bestowed on her growing up. In response, the other woman shares how her great-grandmother and grandmother became guiding lights in her life, passing on their wisdom.
