Listen as two Black men share their coping strategies to sustain their energy in order to continue having conversations and learn and make it through the day. One of the men shares that he reads and takes walks and talks a lot with his wife who he knows is truly listening. The other man shares that he makes an effort to talk to his friends of all different races in order to broaden his perspective as much as possible. He makes extra effort to stay connected to his Black friends from high school who understand him on a deeper level and those relationships are fulfilling and sustaining to him.
The more I can interact with people of different perspectives then somehow that’s fulfilling for me. There’s a certain level of comfort and relaxation and warmth that only comes from my Black friends that can’t be replicated…
