In this brief clip, two Black men dialogue about how the Black community is dispersed throughout the greater Seattle area and reminisce about how tighter knit the community used to be. One of the men describes how he keeps the memories alive by sharing stories with his children and pointing out what different storefronts and areas used to be. He comments that there may be an opportunity to reimagine the future of the community.
What we miss is the historicity of it and how it used to be and I often do that as I’m driving down the street and I’ll say, “and that used to be… that was the first store here… and the Black front there…”
