In this clip, an interracial couple share their different views on the media coverage of the Capitol riots and BLM protests. The husband begins the conversation by describing the media as a stressor. He has found himself questioning whether media outlets are simply hopping on the bandwagon trend when they report a disparity between the responses for Capitol riots vs the BLM protests, or they actually represent their outlet’s beliefs and position. The wife has found that she would like to see more BIPOC reporters rather than white reporters simply relaying what they’ve been told. For the wife, representation would help to make the reporting more authentic rather than mediated through white voices.
I think it it’s a bit disingenuous. I think they’re only saying it because it’s now popular to say… Are you just saying that because it makes your ratings look better?
