The Law Exists in a Binary

In this clip, listen as an interracial couple talk about the disparity between the Capitol riots and BLM protests. They begin the conversation commenting on how the pandemic gave an opportunity for communities to come together, yet, in reality, it created more division and highlighted the disparities in our system as exhibited by the disproportionate police responses to the Capitol riots versus the BLM protests. The couple observe how, if it had been a Black Lives Matter protest at the capitol, there would’ve been a heavier police presence and likely more aggressive policing compared to the way they handled an attempted revolution.

Just goes to show how the laws are applied in this country not equally… If those were Black Lives Matter protestors, those guys would’ve been shot.
