Childcare for Essential Workers

In this clip, listen as the doctors and scientists who identified COVID-19 in the U.S. share how challenging it was for them to find childcare during the pandemic. As essential workers, they had to be in person in the hospitals more often which took them away from their families but also put their families at risk. They describe how difficult it was for them to find childcare because not babysitters wanted to risk exposure to them and there were no daycare centers open.

Both of us were gone the kids were basically left to fend for themselves a good chunk of the time… it was really touch and go with us being clinical faculty, no childcare.
