Episode 1: To Stir the Pot or Keep the Peace

This podcast began during the CCDE Interrupting Privilege Podcasting Workshop during the summer of 2021. Several students and community members came together to learn how to tell stories using the podcasting medium. Two graduate students – Meshell Sturgis and Thomas Locke – turned their podcast into a three-part series. The first two episodes of that series entitled “To Stir the Pot or Keep the Peace” are available now.

In this first episode, Sturgis and Locke “discuss the process of evaluating the spaces that they find themselves in before deciding to stir the pot or keep the peace.” They share their personal experiences with their family, friends, and daily lives of when these decisions come into play and the weight of those decisions on their minds and bodies.

There’s a lot engrained in me to not stir the pot, so I try really hard with 30 pages of writing to stir the pot. But in a store when I walk in and someone gives me a look that’s really hard to call on that writing then…
