White People Can Be Everything, but Black People Can Only Be So Much?

In this clip, a Black student shares her experiences with a substitute teacher who demonstrated racist behaviors and projected stereotypes. The student describes an incident in which she interrupted the teacher’s racism by addressing assumptions she had about Black people. She was able to have a conversation with the teacher in a way that helped to correct a stereotype barrier.

I was able to prove to her like ‘hey, yes, we are oppressed but that doesn’t mean we aren’t capable’
