In this clip, listen as a Black student discusses what it looks like to learn from community elders and be able to meaningfully engage their knowledge of history. He describes how he recognizes the efforts of everyone who has come before him and worked to ensure that African Americans have the rights they do today. For him, it is important to make use of that generational knowledge and learning as a resource for the future.
Elders have stories of and have memories of things that are important and for how they succeeded when things were difficult and how they celebrated their lives and things like that.
