In this clip, a Black man shares his perspective on drug use and abuse and how the War on Drugs has disproportionately targeted the Black community. He describes how his family has experienced trauma with drug abuse and how, when he came to Seattle, the more casual use of legal marijuana shocked him. It took time for him to be more open to marijuana use and medicinal properties. He began to observe the disproportionate policing of the Black community through the War on Drugs and has chosen to share his experiences in order to better inform others and begin the counterattack.
It was just another confirmation that segregation, systemic racism, that the community that I grew up loving was under attack.
