Healing Value of Friendship

Listen as two Black women dialogue partners express affirmation for one another and describe their friendship as a source of healing and support. They describe their relationship as authentic and as a space where neither has to perform perfection.

I really love the space we’ve created for one another where we’re just here when I need and when you need. It’s always a person who will just listen and who won’t extract energy.

There is a deep and mutual understanding between these friends that facilitates a sense of safety which has allowed their relationship to be restorative rather than extractive. They are true to themselves when they’re together and don’t put up a facade for one another. The key is being able to radically listen and provide validating, honest support.
