In this clip, a visitor to the Northwest African American Museum on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2024 talks about being approached by fellow Black people in Seattle. He compares it to other places he has lived, saying that he feels a certain obligation to interact with Black houseless neighbors.
I think with being Black in Seattle, it’s interesting, because normally, in like other places, most like houseless people won’t really like interact with me as much. But if there’s like Black houseless, that I feel like more obligated, because it’s like, I’m in Seattle, I wanted to make sure that there’s that mutual respect.
