When the pandemic became very uncertain for most people, these women were able to feel secure in their knowledge because they were the ones developing it. So, when misinformation spread, they felt that they knew truth because of their positions as researchers and their closeness to the data.
And to be able to feel you knew the data you knew exactly what was going on at every second because you were generating the data. That was very reassuring. It was so reassuring to know that I knew truth.
