Providing Direct Community Support and Knowing Truth

Listen as the doctors and scientists who identified COVID-19 in the U.S. discuss how they were able to provide their community with support because they were on the frontlines and doing the research. When the pandemic became very uncertain for most people, these women were able to feel secure in their knowledge because they were the ones developing it. So, when misinformation spread, they felt that they knew truth because of their positions as researchers and their closeness to the data.

And to be able to feel you knew the data you knew exactly what was going on at every second because you were generating the data. That was very reassuring. It was so reassuring to know that I knew truth.
