Communities That Fit Your Spirit

In this clip, two Black parents describe the choices they’ve made to ensure that their children are connected to communities that fit their spirit. They share that they often find themselves commuting around the city a lot so that their daughters can be involved in different communities and feel like they are at home. They have sacrificed to put their daughters’ social, emotional and academic education first and made sure that whatever environment they are in, they can be themselves and their selves will be celebrated.

Selecting a school by a test score and not considering that social impact to your child is a complete failure. Who they are, feeling comfortable in their own skin, being encouraged to pursue life, take life by the horns is success to me so they have to be in an environment where they can bring their whole selves.
