I am from the Central District of Seattle- the heart of the city. A place where Black English is closely interconnected with how Black people in the Central District use language. If one attentively listens, it seems impossible to miss the subtle southern drawl. For example, someone from Jamaica speaks English; however, amongst one another they speak a variation of English called patois.
