In this lively discussion, two students discuss the difference between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation, where to draw the line between both, and the importance of white people doing research on the cultures they draw from. They specifically center their conversation around one white classmate. For one student, this white student should educate herself on the culture she appropriates from and, if she is close friends with people from that culture, needs to be more respectful and aware. The other student questions the necessity of changing one white girl’s appropriation, especially because she is a teenager and doesn’t know any better. It is an impassioned discussion that weighs different perspectives and pushes thinking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
