Because they were so heavily involved in identifying COVID-19, studying it, tracking it, and developing a vaccine, they are rightfully exhausted from the incredible amount of labor they had to put in during the pandemic. They commiserate over the fact that they felt like they still couldn&#8217;t stop because they had to harness this moment to get the most funding they could to keep studying and providing as much as they could to academia and the public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>In academia you have to leverage every dollar and every chance at a dollar.
