Listen as a Black student shares how school administrators participate in “accidental racism” sometimes. The student recalls a time where they reported to school authorities that one of their peers had a gun. After the incident, they describe the bullying they experienced and the damaging effects of the experience where their school principal gave racial descriptors of the student who brought the information to light. This, the student describes as “accidental racism” because, while they recognize their intentions weren’t malicious, using such a descriptor helped make the student more of a target, putting them in more danger. Their experience is a reminder to teachers and school administrators to be more vigilant about bullying and the ways in which they let it occur under their noses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There has been a lot of bullying… and what they fail to do is that they fail to recognize what’s actually happening in their schools like they touch on it but they don’t actually see it<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n
