Connecting With Other Black People Who Are Similarly Questioning

In this clip, listen as a Black mother shares stories of connecting with other Black folks like her while her daughter shares desire for intentional communities. They begin by discussing how the mother has engaged in transformative experiences recently where she has been able to develop friendships and explore spirituality with a larger Black community. It has afforded her a sense of connectedness and space where she has been more authentically herself than she has in her life. Her daughter follows up by describing her desire for communities for people of color where cooking and education and spaces are intentionally designed.

This is the first time in my life that I feel that I can be really open and vulnerable and honest, and I can’t say that I’ve felt that way with Black people in my life. It’s always ‘you should be this, you should be that.’
