Listen as two first-gen UW students discuss how their family dynamics shifted and changed as they lived at home during the pandemic. For one student, she reflected on how she and her mom and sister learned to spend time together. The other student commiserated that she also had to learn to spend time with her family in new ways but also quickly realized that she also needed space for herself, leading her to move out.
Plus I’m the oldest so I would have to make sure everybody was okay before I do whatever I wanted to do. My parents would just be on me to be on my siblings.
