We Have Black Students, So Put Us on the Pedestal

In this clip, two students describe how their high school boasts diversity while still treating Black students as tokens. The students share how hyper visible they feel in the school and the pressures they face in that environment. Additionally, despite being considered the “diverse school” their population is still segregated, making for a challenging learning environment.

I feel like our school is kind of segregated, like, I’m not even gonna lie the white people stay where they are and the Black people stay where they are and it’s really segregated.
