I Want You to Stop Killing Me, Killing My People

In this clip, two Black men share their emotional responses to videos of police violence and history of violence against Black people in the U.S. One of the men describes how he watched a documentary in which they showed an image of a lynched Black woman and he was dumbfounded by the savagery and violence enacted upon her. He could not understand why someone could carry out such violence against another human being. He reflects on the importance of empathy and how being able to connect with someone to see their pain could help solve a lot of problems. The other man describes the pain he felt watching the Floyd and Arbery videos and both men make a plea to listeners to show more empathy and hear their words with the weight they carry.

It makes me want to die. It makes me viscerally hopeless.
